Customising Services

Machining

We can machine our cases with holes and features to suit your design exactly. Our CNC milling machines produce highly accurate openings with an excellent surface finish. The minimum radii for CNC machined holes is 0.8mm.
  • Round and 'D' Type connector appertures
  • Windows for LCD modules
  • Push button appertures
  • Slots for membrane keypad ribbon cables
  • Recessed areas for membranes or labels
  • Removing pillars and ribs for clearance
  • Additional fixing holes
Minimum order quantity: 50 pieces

Moulding-in Features

All Serpac enclosures are designed with customisation in mind. Each enclosure has 'Insert Areas' where tool inserts can be made to your specification. Your modifications (characters, symbols, openings, recesses) can therefore be moulded into the enclosure, cutting out the need for secondary operations.

To produce these inserts there is a once-off tooling charge, typically £1500 (depending upon complexity), and are owned by you, our customer.

On some of our products we also have the ability to altar the height of internal PCB bosses to suit your specific application.

Minimum order quantity: 500 pieces

Printing

Further customise your product by having us print your company logo, graphics and control legends directly onto the enclosures.

Multiple colour printing jobs can be easily handled.

All we need from you is a possitive mirror image of your artwork on film or electronically, plus the pantone references of the colours you would like us to use.

Minimum order quantity: 50 pieces

Colour Options

We have three standard colours: black, almond and grey. Alternatively we can supply the enclosures to your colour requirements. There are two options: painting or moulding-in.

For painting we use two-part lacquers specially designed for coating plastics.

When moulding a special colour we can match your colour chip, pantone or RAL specification.

Minimum order quantity: painting-100 pieces, moulding-1000 pieces

STANDARD CASE COLOURS:

EMC Shielding

We offer two different methods of EMC shielding.

Our most common method is to spray the interior of the enclosure with a conductive paint. Our standard spray in Nickel based, but we can also coat the enclosure in graphite, copper and silver. (Prices vary depending upon the material used.)

The other method, for special applications, is to mould the housings in a conductive plastic. (Due to electrical safety, this method is not suitable for mains powered equipment.)

Minimum order quantity: painting-50 pieces, moulding-1000 pieces

EMC SHIELDING

Electromagnetic Interference (E.M.I.) is electronic pollution which can be caused by rapidly changing voltage. It can cause computational errors or wipe out complete memories, much like electrostatic discharge (E.S.D), if allowed to penetrate sensitive electronic components.

We recommend that all end users conduct open field test of their equipment, fully fitted into our shielded enclosure, in order to evaluate accurately the EMC performance.

Alternative Materials

Serpac can make material changes to your enclosure in order to meet your engineering specifications:
  • Increased flame retardancy i.e. UL 94 V-0
  • Increased impact resistance
  • High temperature applications
  • Anti-Static materials
  • High chemical resistance
